Ethylene (C2H4) molecule
Image of ethylene or ethene molecule (C2H4). Ethene is the first alkenes (certain unsaturated hydrocarbons). The two carbon atoms share double bond which makes the molecule rather rigid. It is a planar molecule (all the atoms lie in the same plane). Used as the starting point for many different chemicals. Its polymer is polyethylene (or polythene).
