http: backlash backlash
Cartoon showing Ed entering a parallel internet after pressing all the wrong buttons. In this case, all the wrong buttons involved writing a short sci-fi piece based on the different shopping behaviours of males and females. The central theme being that women are more effective shoppers since they can access a parallel reality. This did not go down too well and there was a massive backlash against the piece (called Womanspace and published in Nature). This cartoon plays on the idea of a parallel internet and a pun on internet addresses. The fear being that you could enter another internet if you mistakenly press a few wrong buttons (keys).
