On the 28th of December in 1908 the city of Messina in Italy was destroyed by a massive earthquake. Well over 100,000 people were killed. In the aftermath, the army was sent in to clear up and these photos were taken by Arturo Tocchetti (1883 - 1968). They have now been restored.
