FOUCAULT'S PENDULUM Antique Fixed View of Earth

Foucault's pendulums are positioned at the North pole, 60 degrees north, 30 degrees north, and at the equator. The camera remains fixed at a point above the Earth. The Earth's rotation is shown by the slowly spinning grid that extends out from the plane of the equator, and the fixed light source. At the North Pole, the pendulum precesses 360 degrees in one revolution of the planet (one day). The pendulums at 30 and 60 degrees precess more slowly, while the pendulum at the equator does not precess at all (it swings in the plane of the equator in this animation).
