GEARS
GEARS1970-01-01T00:00:00+00:00Two intermeshing gear wheels rotate to show how speed and direction of rotation happens in a simple gear. Two complete revolutions of the large gear wheel are shown but video can be looped.PT8Shttps://d3e1m60ptf1oym.cloudfront.net/bf6f876c-cc85-4d36-ac6c-133bd4f489be/GEARS-gear-wheels-Russell-Kightley_xlarge.jpghttps://d3e1m60ptf1oym.cloudfront.net/bf6f876c-cc85-4d36-ac6c-133bd4f489be/GEARS-gear-wheels-Russell-Kightley_mp4_hd_video.mp4https://www.scientific.pictures/-/galleries/physics/-/medias/bf6f876c-cc85-4d36-ac6c-133bd4f489be/pricehttps://www.scientific.pictures/-/galleries/physics/-/medias/bf6f876c-cc85-4d36-ac6c-133bd4f489be/price

Gas: Pressure Volume

GAS PRESSURE DROPS AS VOLUME INCREASES: when the volume of a gas increases the particles become more spread out. A given area of the container therefore experiences fewer collisions and therefore a lower force. Effectively, the pressure drops as the volume increases. This is enshrined in Boyle's Law which states that the gas volume is inversely proportional to the pressure at a given temperature (see an animation of pressure increase with temperature increase). In this animation it is the container that enlarges, not the gas forcing the expansion.

EFFUSION1970-01-01T00:00:00+00:00EFFUSION: when a gas migrates to a vacuum. The animation shows two compartments separated by a barrier. The barrier has a small hole. Gas is introduced into the left compartment and the particles bounce around. Some particles will escape from the left ...PT19Shttps://d3e1m60ptf1oym.cloudfront.net/d2810246-c20a-4eef-a005-a36a951ea553/gas-effusion-animation-FHD-Russell-Kightley_xlarge.jpghttps://d3e1m60ptf1oym.cloudfront.net/d2810246-c20a-4eef-a005-a36a951ea553/gas-effusion-animation-FHD-Russell-Kightley_mp4_hd_video.mp4https://www.scientific.pictures/-/galleries/physics/-/medias/d2810246-c20a-4eef-a005-a36a951ea553/pricehttps://www.scientific.pictures/-/galleries/physics/-/medias/d2810246-c20a-4eef-a005-a36a951ea553/price
